Maria KeaneThe new team manager Eddie Howe has to postpone his debut for Newcastle United due to a corona infection.
As the newly rich Premier League club announced on Friday evening, a routine test of the 43-year-old was positive. Howe will miss the game of the Magpies on Saturday against newly promoted Brentford FC.
“I’m very disappointed that I can’t be in St. James’ Park tomorrow, but it’s very important to follow the guidelines and isolate yourself,” Howe said. Responsibility will be assumed by his assistants Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones, with whom Howe will keep in touch during the encounter.
Howe had been signed to replace Steve Bruce just under two weeks ago. The Englishman, who had led AFC Bournemouth from the third to the first division, should initially lead the club, which was taken over from a consortium from Saudi Arabia, to stay in the league. After eleven games, Newcastle is in acute danger of relegation with only five points.
