Pep Guardiola is apparently interested in the MLS

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has been linked by Spanish media with a move to the US MLS. As the Marca reported that New York City FC should be a possible option for the Spaniard.

“It’s a city that I love very much. I’ve been saying it for many years, I believe that football in the United States has an incredibly great future,” Guardiola said last of the metropolis on the Atlantic.

Manchester City itself is already associated with the New York club – both belong to the City Football Group, which also includes Melbourne City, Girona and ES Troyes and is 86 percent owned by Abu Dhabi United Group Investment & Development Limited.

Pep Guardiola: First break, then national team?

However, whether the United States is a serious option for Guardiola remains to be seen. In August he announced that he would leave the English champions in 2023. “I think I’ll have to take a break after seven years,” he told Brazilian media.

His wish then was a national team: “A national team, yes. The next step will be a national team, if there is the possibility.”
