With the first defeat in the Premier League after 154 days, Arsenal FC involuntarily made the race for the English championship exciting again.

The Gunners lost 0-1 (0-0) at Everton and are only five points ahead of Manchester City after 20 games. The defending champions could narrow the gap to two points with a win at Tottenham Horspur on Sunday (5.30pm CET).

James Tarkowski (60th) scored the decisive goal for the relegation contenders from Liverpool. It sealed Arsenal’s first second Premier League defeat of the season – after a 3-1 loss at Manchester United on 4 September.
