Maria KeaneThe German team manager Daniel Farke was sacked at the English first division club Norwich City just hours after the first win of the season. That announced the bottom light on Saturday evening.
Norwich had prevailed in the afternoon at fellow promoted Brentford FC (2-1). Farke (45) came from Borussia Dortmund’s reserve in 2017 and has since been promoted to the Premier League twice with the Canaries.
“We believe that now is the right time to make a move so that we have the best chance of remaining in the Premier League,” said Sporting Director Stuart Webber.
In his interview with BBC Sports after the game, Farke said: “We definitely have a chance to survive,” he said. “It’s a long marathon. The longer we work together, the better we will be as a team. I can’t guarantee we’ll stay in the league, but we can’t be written off.
Norwich has collected five points after eleven games and is five points behind Leeds United in 17th place.
