Ralf Rangnick has to wait for a work permit

Ralf Rangnick will coach Manchester United until the summer of 2022. However, his inauguration is being delayed by the bureaucracy.

Ralf Rangnick is the new interim coach at Manchester United. However, his debut on the sidelines is delayed by a lack of a work permit. United announced this in an official statement.

The reason for this is the Brexit, Rangnick is still waiting for a valid work visa. “Ralf Rangnick was announced as interim coach on Monday, but while the club is going through the regulatory process for a work visa, (Michael) Carrick will continue to be in charge,” it said.

Rangnick: Not worked often and long enough

After Brexit, coaches will only receive an automatic work permit if they have been active in the business for a certain period of time in the past five years. Rangnick has not worked as a coach in recent years, apart from two short periods at RB Leipzig (2018/19 and 2015/16).

Accordingly, the 63-year-old needs an assessment from the “exception committee”. This is based out loud telegraph on whether Rangnick “is able to make a significant contribution to the development of football at the highest level in England”. Then he gets a work permit from the London Home Office.

United have communicated that Rangnick won’t take command until the end of the week. The club is hoping for the green light for the guest appearance on Sunday at Crystal Palace.
