Ralf Rangnick wants to bring old Red Bull companions into his coaching staff

Manchester United’s new coach Ralf Rangnick (63) wants to strengthen his coaching staff with Chris Armas (49). According to information from SPOX and GOAL, the American should join Rangnick’s team as quickly as possible, but there are still some bureaucratic hurdles to overcome.

Armas worked as head coach for the New York Red Bulls between 2018 and 2020, so he knows Rangnick, the former Head of Sport and Development at Red Bull, very well. Most recently, the ex-US international was with MLS club Toronto FC. Armas is currently without a club.

Rangnick has already announced some changes in the coaching staff. At his inaugural press conference last Friday, he announced that he would like to work with the existing staff because he needed their experience. However, there will still be up to three additions.

“It will take a week or two before his coaching team is complete,” said Rangnick. At Armas there are currently still problems with the visa. If these are resolved, he should be the first new addition.

Rangnick has been the official coach of the English record champions since last week. His debut last weekend came with a 1-0 home win in the Premier League against Crystal Palace.
