After Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, Ralf Rangnick has also spoken out in favor of reintroducing five changes in the Premier League. “This rule applies in other countries and I think we should give it some serious thought too,” said the Manchester United manager on Thursday, emphasizing that the majority of players shared this view.
“We’re in a similar situation to a year and a half ago, so things should be the same again,” said Rangnick. Especially in the current time when numerous Premier League clubs are struggling with corona infections, five instead of three player changes would offer relief.
Previously, Liverpool coach Klopp and Manchester City’s Guardiola had pleaded for the reintroduction of the extended change quota. Unlike in most of the top leagues, England’s elite class currently only allows three changes.
