3rd league: 1860 Munich breaks the negative run

The second team of SC Freiburg missed the temporary jump to the top of the 3rd division. The Breisgauer reached a 1:1 (1:1) in the top game at VfL Osnabrück.

With 58 points, Freiburg is in second place behind leaders SV Elversberg (59), who meet Halleschen FC on Sunday (1 p.m.). However, Freiburg II cannot be promoted anyway because the first team plays in the Bundesliga.

In the pursuit duel, SV Wehen Wiesbaden won 3-0 (0-0) against Waldhof Mannheim. Max Reinthaler (50th), Florian Carstens (68th) and Kianz Froese (74th, hand penalty) scored for the Hessians, who are in third place. 1. FC Saarbrücken won 3-0 (2-0) against Rot-Weiss Essen. 1860 Munich celebrated their first win after eight unsuccessful attempts with a 3-1 (2-0) win at second division relegated Erzgebirge Aue.

Vincent Vermeij (18th) made it 1-0 for Freiburg II, Noel Niemann (28th) made it 1-1 for Osnabrück. Freiburg’s Yannik Engelhardt saw the yellow-red card for repeated foul play (86th).

In Saarbrücken, Marvin Cuni (2nd) and Dave Gnaase (36th/58th) were successful for FCS against Essen. Stefan Lex (16th/60th) and Albion Vrenezi (36th) scored the goals for the Munich Lions. Paul-Philipp Besong (72nd) scored the goal of honor for the Saxons.

MSV Duisburg and SC Verl drew 3:3 (2:2), MSV lost Caspar Jander for repeated foul play with a yellow-red card (48th). In the promotion and basement duel, SpVgg Bayreuth lost 1:2 (0:1) to VfB Oldenburg.

Meanwhile, bottom of the table SV Meppen remained without a win under their new coach Ernst Middendorp. In his third game as head coach, the 64-year-old saw a 1-3 (1-1) draw at Viktoria Köln on Friday evening.
