Ernst Middendorp gets a point with SV Meppen in Elversberg

Ernst Middendorp has returned with a big surprise in German professional football. The new coach of the previous table bottom SV Meppen in the 3rd division got a surprise point with a 2:2 (2:1) at table leaders SV Elversberg, with which Meppen gave up the red lantern.

The 64-year-old led the first training session with the Emsländer last Wednesday as the successor to the dismissed Stefan Krämer. In the past 21 games, the Meppener had celebrated only one win. Robin Fellhauer (13′) gave SVE the lead, the guests managed to turn the game around with David Blacha (15′) and Christoph Hemlein (25′). Manuel Feil (43rd) managed to equalize the leader 2:2 before the half-time whistle. Elversberg’s Carlo Sickinger saw the yellow-red card for repeated foul play (84th).

Of the pursuers, VfL Osnabrück and Waldhof Mannheim each celebrated victories. In the Lower Saxony derby, VfL celebrated a 2-0 (1-0) win against newly promoted VfB Oldenburg with interim coach Frank Löning. Ba-Muaka Simakala (43rd) and Omar Traore (52nd) scored for Osnabrück, Oldenburg is the new tail light.

The Waldhöfer won 3-1 (2-1) at newcomer SpVgg Bayreuth. Fridolin Wagner (10th), Marten Winkler (38th) and Baris Ekincier (90th + 2) scored for the Palatinate. Markus Ziereis (45 + 2) scored the goal of honor for the southern Germans. Bayreuth’s Felix Weber was sent off with a red card for foul play (88′).

MSV Duisburg and 1860 Munich drew 2-2 (0-0), so the sixties still have to wait for their first win under new coach Maurizio Jacobacci despite a 2-0 lead. Viktoria Köln drew 1-1 (0-1) against FSV Zwickau, while Erzgebirge Aue won 2-1 (2-0) against Rot-Weiss Essen.

Meanwhile, Hallescher FC remained unbeaten on Friday under their new coach Sreto Ristic. The HFC got a 2: 2 (1: 2) at SC Verl after a 0: 2 deficit and can continue to dream of relegation. Halle has now scored eight points in four games under Ristic.
