SSV Ulm 1846 third promoted to the 3rd league

The former Bundesliga club SSV Ulm 1846, which has meanwhile fallen deeply, has been promoted to the 3rd division. The sparrows trained by Thomas Wörle made the championship in the Regionalliga Südwest perfect on the penultimate day with a 5:0 (2:0) against SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz.

Ulm sensationally got promoted to the Bundesliga in 1999, but were immediately relegated the following year. Even in the second division season 2000/01 the sporting rescue failed.

Due to the bankruptcy, the SSV did not receive a license for the then third-rate regional league and had to make a fresh start in the fifth league. Further bankruptcies followed in 2008 and 2014. In 2016, the Ulm team rose from the Oberliga to the Regionalliga, which they are now leaving at the top.

The founding members of the Bundesliga, Preußen Münster and VfB Lübeck, have also been confirmed as promoted to the 3rd division.

The fourth climber will be determined between SpVgg Unterhaching (champion of the Bavarian regional league) and the first in the Northeast regional league (Energie Cottbus or Rot-Weiss Erfurt).
