“We would all have preferred to play football on Saturday. But we are relieved that the DFL followed our request. This is a decision in the interests of fair competition and the health of the players,” said FSV sports director Christian Heidel.
Most recently, Mainz reported the 20th corona case. Due to the outbreak, the home game against Borussia Dortmund planned for last Sunday had already been postponed to March 16.
According to the DFL rules of play, at least 16 players are required to play a game, including at least nine licensed players, including a goalkeeper. Suspended and injured players are considered “available”.
