Stefan Ortega was one of the guarantors of Arminia Bielefeld’s relegation last season. Obviously, this attracted some top clubs.
Arminia Bielefeld’s goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has apparently rejected the Spanish champions Atletico Madrid. That reports the kicker.
Accordingly, the Rojiblancos approached the 28-year-old in mid-June before his release clause of five million euros expired.
Ortega: Atletico offered Bielefeld an exchange
Instead of the required amount, Atletico offered substitute goalkeeper Ivo Grbic in exchange. But Ortega was not interested in the role of number two behind Jan Oblak – incidentally, it was the same with a request from FC Bayern.
Ortega still has a contract with Bielefeld until 2022. He is currently not thinking about an extension. “In 2017, I was given the opportunity to get into goal and play. I think I’ve already given the club a lot back,” he quotes kicker.
