As the club announced, Arne Maier is moving from league competitor Hertha BSC to Augsburg. There Maier will meet Niklas Dorsch, with whom he harmonized perfectly in Germany’s U21 European Championship triumph in midfield. In return for Maier, Augsburg gives up Marco Richter, who is permanently moving to Hertha.
Augsburg is initially loaning Maier (22) for one season, but has also secured a purchase option. “I want to play a successful season with the team and take responsibility on the pitch,” said the Olympic participant.
