The factory club announced on Monday. According to kicker, eight million euros were due for the transfer.

“We are very happy that we have been able to win Piero Hincapie, a young but already very self-confident central defender with initial international experience,” said sporting director Simon Rolfes. “His very good performance against absolute world-class players at the major continental tournament in South America confirmed our assessment that Piero has a very promising future.”

Sports director Rudi Völler is also looking forward to the 1.84 m tall newcomer, whom he praised as “strong in two fights, game-intelligent and technically adept”: “This is a transfer in the spirit of Bayer Leverkusen.”
