Borussia Dortmund at the Bundesliga start without Mats Hummels and Raphael Guerreiro

Borussia Dortmund may have to do without defense chief Mats Hummels and left-back Raphael Guerreiro at the start of the Bundesliga next week.

“I think Mats needs a few more days. He’s just starting to run. Frankfurt could come too early for Rafa too,” said coach Marco Rose after the confident 3-0 (2-0) success in the first DFB Cup round at SV Wehen Wiesbaden.

He generally reckons that there won’t be “that many” of those missing players injured in the cup for the Bundesliga opener against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, the 44-year-old continued: “But we still have a week. Emre (Can, d.Red) I expect back by then. ” In general, Rose was in a good mood after his successful debut at the third division club from Wiesbaden.

“We played to zero, scored three goals – basically I can be completely satisfied with the performance,” said the coach who came from Borussia Mönchengladbach. But there are “always things that we want to improve,” continued Rose: “We are still at the beginning. We have approaches to make things even better.”
