Maria KeaneSports director Max Eberl from Borussia Mönchengladbach has warned of the consequences of the corona crisis and the overall decline in income.
“The new television contract also means 200 million euros less TV money in Germany. That means for every club to work out a new strategy. The ten fat years from before are over, they will not come back. Everyone has to deal with this crash.” , said Eberl in an interview with the West German newspaper.
Gladbach closed the 2020 financial year with a loss of around 16.8 million euros. But Eberl is calm. “We have a very, very good squad, have done outstandingly in the last few years, put a lot of fat on our ribs, even if that has of course gotten less now. But better that way than to have eaten on the bare bone. It is breaking now . We will still get through well, “said the 47-year-old.
The consequences of the corona pandemic are “a great opportunity for the next generation”. Where else it was said, “I’d rather get another one because I’m not sure whether the boy from our offspring can make it, I now tend to say: I’ll see first if he can do it. This applies to internal as well as to external young players “, emphasized Eberl.
