BVB, rumors: Mats Hummels threatens to miss the start of the season
BVB defense chief Mats Hummels will obviously miss the start of the season for the black and yellow team due to an injury. As the picture reported, the 32-year-old will definitely be out of the first round of the DFB Cup next Saturday against Wehen Wiesbaden due to problems with the patellar tendon. A use at the Bundesliga season start against Frankfurt (August 14) is therefore questionable.
The knee problems already bothered Hummels during the European Championships, and in the Borussia training camp he had mainly trained individually. A return to team training was open until the end, now he does not seem to be fit in time for the competitive game opener.
At the end of July, BVB managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke expected a quick return from Hummels. “Mats will be on the field much faster than has been speculated in one or the other media, so I’ll just make a commitment now,” said Watzke at the time.
Hummels is not the only problem child in Dortmund’s defense. Coach Marco Rose will also have to do without Dan-Axel Zagadou and Soumaila Coulibaly, who are still in training after their own knee injuries. Sports director Michael Zorc had recently been annoyed by his team’s injury problems.
BVB, News: Jude Bellingham returns from EM vacation
After all, coach Rose can expect Jude Bellingham and Thomas Delaney back in team training during the week. Both returned to Dortmund on Monday from their EM vacation.
First of all, a performance test was on the program for the duo, according to Ruhr news Bellingham and Delaney could return to team training in the coming days. How long the latter has been part of Borussia, however, seems to be open at the moment. Delaney reportedly prefers to move later this summer.
BVB, News: Borussia Dortmund satisfied with vaccination campaign
As Borussia announced on Monday, almost 2900 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 during the vaccination campaign in Signal Iduna Park. “We see this number as a great success. These 2857 vaccinations also contribute to the common fight against the pandemic,” said Björn Hegemann, head of the fan affairs department Ruhr news.
From July 22nd to 31st, BVB, in cooperation with the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians Westphalia-Lippe and the city of Dortmund, provided the Signal Iduna Park as a vaccination center. There will be no extension of the campaign, but the association is apparently considering providing a vaccination mobile.
