BVB, News: Haaland injury? Sports medic warns

The Düsseldorf sports physiotherapist Aldo Vetere has cited Erling Haaland as a negative example of a too quick comeback. “With Erling I would say spontaneously: Far too much, far too early and far too much stress. And: The cause has not been remedied,” said Vetere der dpa. The BVB goalscorer is not an isolated case, so many football professionals are not properly recovering from their injuries.

Haaland “quickly came back under pressure” after his previous injury, Vetere said. Even if he does not look after the 21-year-old himself, he believes his chances of recovery are good. “The only fact is: it shouldn’t happen a third time in such a short time!” Said Vetere.

Haaland was absent at the end of September due to muscular problems and celebrated his comeback for Borussia Dortmund in mid-October in the Bundesliga against Mainz 05 (3-1). Since then, the Norwegian has been sidelined due to a hip flexor muscle injury.

BVB, News: Hazard tested positive for Corona

Borussia Dortmund will have to do without Thorgan Hazard in the Champions League at Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday (9 p.m. in LIVETICKER).

The Belgian tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday. The offensive player is therefore not available to BVB for the time being.

According to the club, the 28-year-old had no contact with the team on Monday or Sunday and immediately went into isolation. All members of the BVB squad of the professional team and the U23 as well as the respective support teams are 100 percent vaccinated or recovered, underlined the Dortmunders. Against this background, according to BVB, further quarantine measures are “currently not necessary”.

BVB, News: Haaland’s successor at the Golden Boy is confirmed

Young star Pedri from the Spanish top club FC Barcelona has been named “Golden Boy” of the year. This award has been given to the best U21 player in Europe since 2003; in the previous year Borussia Dortmund’s goal scorer Erling Haaland had the vote in the Italian newspaper Tuttosport won among European sports journalists.

The 18-year-old Pedri won the election by a clear margin over BVB midfielder Jude Bellingham. Spain international Pedri, who recently extended his contract with the Catalans to 2026 with a € 1 billion release clause, was elected by 24 of the 40 journalists who were eligible to vote. Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen), Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich) or Giovanni Reyna (Borussia Dortmund) were also available.

The title of “Web Golden Boy” went to the German national player Karim Adeyemi from the Austrian series champion Red Bull Salzburg. The award is given by online voting among fans.
