BVB will have to do without Thorgan Hazard against FC Bayern Munich

DFB Cup winner Borussia Dortmund will have to do without Thorgan Hazard in the Supercup against FC Bayern Munich on Tuesday (8.30 p.m.).

The Belgian international complains of pain in his ankle after defeating Eintracht Frankfurt (5-2). “We’ll see what isn’t the way it should be,” said Rose. “We had little regeneration and actually no opportunity to train on Saturday after our season opener.”

Hazard could replace Donyell Malen. The € 30 million striker was substituted on in the final stages of the 3-0 win in the DFB Cup at Wehen Wiesbaden and the win against Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

Regardless of the Supercup outcome, Rose wants to focus on the constancy of Dortmund. “May 22nd, last match day, sometime the cup final in Berlin – until then we have a lot of tasks ahead of us. As a coach, it is important to bring sustainability into the equation,” he emphasized. Nevertheless, BVB will “fight for this title”.

Center-back Mats Hummels and left-back Raphael Guerreiro are still not in team training. Rose reported positive signals, possibly already for the league game at SC Freiburg on Saturday.
