Josip Brekalo’s move from VfL Wolfsburg to Lazio Rome is almost perfect, according to Italian media reports. Joao Victor will probably leave the wolves too.
Wolfsburg’s sports director Marcel Schäfer gave the green light for the transfer, reported the Gazzetta dello Sport on Sunday.
A loan agreement awaits the 23-year-old Croat. The 23-year-old, whose contract with VfL Wolfsburg runs until 2023, has been a preferred candidate for Lazios sports director Igli Tare for a long time. Recently, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad from San Sebastian had also signaled an interest in Brekalo.
Midfielder Joao Victor, on the other hand, faces a transfer to the United Arab Emirates. The 27-year-old Brazilian was no longer in the squad in the 1-0 win by Lower Saxony against newly promoted VfL Bochum.
As the preferred player of the then VfL coach Oliver Glasner, the South American moved to Lower Saxony in 2019 together with the Austrian coach. Within two years, Joao Victor made 53 league appearances in Wolfsburg.
