Cologne coach Baumgart condemns whistles against Leroy Sane

Is currently in a form crisis: Leroy Sane from FC Bayern Munich.

After numerous players and officials of FC Bayern Munich, Steffen Baumgart, coach of 1. FC Köln, has also voiced criticism of the whistles from Bayern fans against Leroy Sane.

“I find it embarrassing that people whistle at all. Leroy may be in a form that he doesn’t like himself, but I think he’s working and doing,” said the 49-year-old at ran. In general, the criticism that comes from outside on footballers and coaches is a thorn in his side.

“I don’t like it one way or the other that people from outside always think they have to make themselves known and then whistle accordingly and are not even close to being able to do what the boy is doing,” Baumann exclaimed : “I am bothered by the guys who whistle out there. And if we look at some of them, they can’t walk three meters in a straight line.”

But he is firmly convinced that Sane will come out of his form low, which was apparent against Baumgart and Cologne on Sunday in Bayern’s 3-2 win. Baumgart also took the whistle against Sane as an opportunity to warn against “that one quickly loses respect for these guys, also often with the coaches”. His biggest problem is therefore “that people who are not in the job really imagine they are allowed to express such an opinion”.

FC Bayern are united behind Leroy Sane

Before Baumgart, Thomas Müller and Joshua Kimmich had already commented critically on the whistles against Sane on Sunday from among the team. “We don’t want that, that’s not nice. I expect more support from the fans for us players,” said Müller. Kimmich condemned the action by Bayern fans as “cheeky and bitter”.

Sane also got support from the board of directors of Bayern. “We don’t want what happened yesterday in our Allianz Arena,” said sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, meanwhile, emphasized that he had “pity” for the German national player.

His current situation reminds him of the situation of Arjen Robben in 2012 after the Dutchman missed a penalty in extra time in the 2012 Champions League final in Munich. “Arjen wanted to leave us, but we rebuilt him and held him,” explained Rummenigge, adding: “A year later he became the match winner against Dortmund.”
