Maria KeaneFormer Bundesliga professional Jan Aage Fjörtoft has discussed a move from Timo Werner to Borussia Dortmund. For the Norwegian, Werner would not only be an option if Erling Haaland left, but above all if he stayed.
“Timo Werner doesn’t have to play nine, he could act behind Erling. He would be a good fit for BVB. Dortmund needs people who can come down the wings and cross. I think Werner would be a good fit for Haaland. Dortmund needs it such a player,” said Fjörtoft sky.
Werner is currently going through a difficult phase at Chelsea, under coach Thomas Tuchel the lightning-fast 25-year-old is currently unable to get past short assignments. However, Werner has since been thrown back by a corona infection and an injury.
Nevertheless, Werner hardly played a role, especially in the most recent games. Overall, he has made 22 competitive appearances this season, but very few of them last more than 90 minutes. He scored six goals.
For skyExpert Dietmar Hamann says the relationship between the Blues and the former Leipziger is “a bit of a misunderstanding”, he would “be surprised if he stays in London beyond the summer,” said Hamann. Werner’s contract with Chelsea runs until 2025.
