FC Bayern commemorates Gerd Müller before the Supercup against BVB

In honor of the deceased club legend Gerd Müller, FC Bayern Munich warmed up in jerseys with the number 9 on the Supercup against Borussia Dortmund.

Müller scored his goals with that number on his back in all of his 15 years in Munich. In the meantime, he was also a 9 for the DFB team.

“He was incredibly warm and extremely positive towards everyone. Everyone grew very fond of him as a person. It’s a shame that he is no longer with us. He was one of the greatest strikers of all time,” said Mats Hummels Skywho once played for FC Bayern under assistant coach Müller.

Müller died last Sunday at the age of 75 after a long period of Alzheimer’s disease in a nursing home in Munich.

The “Bomber of the Nation” scored a total of 566 goals for the German record champions in 607 competitive games and is the Bundesliga record scorer with 365 goals. In addition, Müller became world and European champions with the German national team.
