FC Bayern Munich announces transfer of RB Leipzig's Marcel Sabitzer

Marcel Sabitzer’s move from RB Leipzig to Bayern Munich is perfect. According to the announcement on Monday, the Austrian international will receive a contract with the German record champions until 2025. Sabitzer’s contract in Leipzig would have been valid until the end of the current season.

Sabitzer is the third Munich access from Leipzig for this season. Bayern had previously committed defender Dayot Upamecano (€ 42.5 million transfer fee) and coach Julian Nagelsmann (up to € 25 million) from their league rivals.

Show of force! The Sabitzer transfer from three perspectives

“Marcel Sabitzer has everything a player needs for FC Bayern,” said Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn: “He won’t need a long time to get used to because he is already very familiar with the philosophy of our coach.”

Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic described the 27-year-old as “a very good footballer with a great mentality, he is very ambitious and, as captain of RB, has been responsible on and off the pitch”.

For the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in Moldova and against Israel, Sabitzer has given his national coach Franco Foda a rejection. He complains of muscular problems in the adductor area.
