Leroy Sane from FC Bayern Munich wants to decide "important games"

Leroy Sane wants to decide “important games” for FC Bayern Munich in the future.

“I don’t want to be measured just by goals and assists,” said the 25-year-old winger SportPicture. “If I don’t collect one or the other scorer point but decide really important games in the Bundesliga or Champions League and we win the corresponding titles for the club in the end, it can still be a very good season.”

In his first season for FC Bayern, he scored ten goals and twelve assists in 44 competitive games. Despite this decent yield, Sane was often criticized. “I know myself that I’m a player who rarely has ‘gray’ in public, but often just black or white,” he said.

The supposed low point of his season was the messed up European Championship, in which Sane did not play a major role and Germany failed in the second round to England. “That was really gnawing at me,” said Sane. “We rarely managed to bring our individual strengths into play. So I’m personally not happy with the tournament.”

Now he wants to get started under the new coach Julian Nagelsmann: “I’ve had many good conversations with our new coach. The training is a lot of fun and is very varied.”
