Maria KeaneWolfsburg midfielder Maximilian Arnold reacted very sourly to a reporter’s questions about BVB striker Erling Haaland.
After Wolves lost 3-1 to Borussia Dortmund, the reporter asked Arnold to what extent Haaland, who had come on against Wolves for the first time in more than a month and had a hip flexor injury, was substituted and the 3: 1 had an impact on the game.
“I honestly don’t give a shit,” said Arnold angrily. The reporter probed again, talking about Haaland’s “incredible” physique and a duel that Arnold had with the Norwegian.
Arnold hesitated, gave a short ironic laugh and asked: “Did he get the ball?” When the reporter said no, Arnold added: “Exactly. You are welcome to continue talking to Haaland if you like, but I don’t give a shit whether a Haaland comes in or not.”
Haaland came into the game against Wolves and Arnold in the 73rd minute for Donyell Malen and then immediately broke two Bundesliga records with his goal to make it 3-1. With only 50 games that he needed for his 50 Bundesliga goals, he is the fastest who has ever made it to this mark – and also the youngest at 21 years and 293 days.
