The Bundesliga game between VfL Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig (1-0) was overshadowed by a “medical emergency”. After the game, players spoke of a collapse of a stadium visitor and resuscitation measures, the press department of VfL Wolfsburg informed about a person who is “meanwhile in the hospital and is being cared for there”.
“We wish you a speedy recovery. Hopefully it’s not that bad,” said VfL coach Mark van Bommel at the press conference.
Because of the incident, his team did not celebrate fully. “It’s not right to celebrate at moments like this,” said midfielder Maximilian Arnold: “As a whole club, our thoughts are completely different and we hope that everything will turn out well.”
Leipzig’s coach Jesse Marsch also expressed his sympathy.
