Just a few days after the 1st matchday of the Bundesliga, the DFL Supercup 2021 will be played this year. Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich will face each other in Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund next Tuesday, August 17th. The game will kick off at 8.30 p.m. 25,000 spectators are officially admitted to the game.
Games between Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern for the DFL Supercup are already a tradition. Since the competition has been played in its current form, it is already the eighth meeting between BVB and FC Bayern.

BVB vs. FC Bayern, DFL Super Cup 2021: mode
In the DFL Supercup, the champions and the cup winners of the previous season meet. If the champion also won the cup, there will be a duel between champions and runners-up.
This year there will be a duel between champions and cup winners. After Bayern lost to second division Holstein Kiel in the second round of the DFB Cup in the previous season, Borussia Dortmund won the DFB Cup.
There is a special mode in the DFL Super Cup. If the game is tied at the end of normal playing time, there is no extra time, the decision is made immediately on penalties.
BVB vs. FC Bayern, DFL Super Cup 2021: Cup
Since the re-establishment of the competition in 2010, a new trophy has been played for. This is a challenge cup. This means that the winner can keep the trophy until another club wins the DFL Supercup. If this is the case, the trophy moves on.
The cup is 53 centimeters high, weighs over 6 kilograms and consists of two symbolized arms that reach for a ball made of real silver.

With the reassignment of TV rights by the DFL, something has also changed in terms of the broadcasting situation for the DFL Supercup.
The game will also be broadcast live on TV and live stream by two providers this year, but no longer from ZDF and DAZN but from SAT 1 and Sky.
SAT 1 shows the game live on free TV next Tuesday. The broadcast with moderator Matthias Opdenhövel starts at 7 p.m. After the preliminary report, Wolff-Christoph Fuss comments on the game. A free live stream will also start at 7 p.m. on ran.de.
The DFL Supercup can also be seen live at Sky. The pay TV broadcaster shows Borussia Dortmund against Bayern Munich Sky Sport UHD and Sky Sport Bundesliga 1 (HD). Martin Groß will comment on the game.
