Sasa Kalajdzic against RB Leipzig "option for the squad"

Striker Sasa Kalajdzic is about to return after surviving the corona infection at VfB Stuttgart. “Sasa looks lively and is an option for the squad,” said coach Pellegrino Matarazzo before the leaders’ game on Friday (8.30pm) at RB Leipzig.

Kalajdzic, who scored 16 goals for the Swabians last season, only resumed team training on Tuesday. At the end of July, the Austrian had tested positive and was in quarantine.

At Tanguy Coulibaly, however, it “still needs some time,” said Matarazzo on Thursday. Nikolas Nartey, who also tested positive, is meanwhile still in quarantine and should be back next week.

Enzo Millot, whom Stuttgart had only signed at the weekend, could celebrate his premiere for VfB. “Enzo is very brave in training and shows that he can play the final pass. He makes a good impression and will be in the squad,” said Matarazzo of the 19-year-old Frenchman.

He has to do without Atakan Karazor (muscular problems) and storm talent Mohamed Sankoh, who seriously injured his knee in the 5-1 win against Fürth. He will be operated on on Friday.

The furious start has boosted VfB’s self-confidence. “I am very optimistic that we will play a good game,” said Matarazzo: “We have good energy in training and we will give it full throttle.”
