Striker Steffen Tigges has been out for a long time due to a broken ankle

Borussia Dortmund will have to do without striker Steffen Tigges indefinitely. As reported by BVB, the attacker fractured his left ankle during training on Wednesday afternoon without any opposition.

Tigges is due to undergo surgery in the coming days and will be out for the rest of the season in any event. The 23-year-old has played 15 competitive games with the professional team so far this season (three goals), which is also due to the fact that the established forces around Erling Haaland were repeatedly not available.

Haaland has been missing since the end of January due to thigh problems, but was able to resume team training on Wednesday. However, it is questionable whether it will be enough for a game in the Bundesliga game against Arminia Bielefeld next Sunday. Youngster Youssoufa Moukoko won’t be available again until the beginning of April at the earliest due to a torn muscle fiber. As an alternative, 18-year-old Bradley Fink, who has been on the ball in the second team since the winter break, could join the pros.

But the personal problems are not only great on the offensive: With Mats Hummels, Raphael Guerreiro (both Corona), Manuel Akanji, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Thomas Meunier and Mateu Morey, six professionals are missing in defense. With U23 central defender Lennard Maloney, another defensive player was therefore promoted to the professional squad.
