VfL Wolfsburg has apparently kept an eye on national player Luca Waldschmidt from Benfica Lisbon while looking for reinforcements to its offensive. The report kicker and the picture– Newspaper Congruent.

Accordingly, negotiations are already underway between the Wolves and the traditional Portuguese club about a return campaign for the 25-year-old to the Bundesliga.

Waldschmidt only moved from SC Freiburg last summer for around 15 million euros. His time in Portugal began very promisingly with a brace in the first game, but the offensive player was slowed down by a corona disease and a toe injury.

Nevertheless, he has so far made 16 direct goals in 43 competitive games for Benfica. Waldschmidt scored in the first two games of the new season, but on Wednesday evening he sat on the bench with Mario Götze in the first leg of the playoffs for the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven.

Waldschmidt still under contract with Benfica for a long time

The ticket to the premier class would already be safe for him if he moved to Wolfsburg. A return to Germany, where a call to the national team would be more likely, could Waldschmidt picture– Present information well. However, his contract with Benfica will run until 2025. That means: Waldschmidt would probably not be cheap for Wolfsburg.
