Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta confirms Granit Xhaka’s stay with the Gunners

Midfielder Granit Xhaka (28) will also play for Arsenal in the coming season. This was confirmed by Mikel Arteta (39), head coach of the Gunners, during the friendly against city rivals Chelsea (1: 2), in which Xhaka had equalized.

“Granit will stay with us. He is an important member of our team,” announced Arteta.

Most recently, Xhaka had been linked with a move to AS Roma, which was trained by Jose Mourinho. Xhaka’s contract in London runs until the summer of 2023.

Xhaka with Arsenal since 2016

The captain of the Swiss national team moved from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Arsenal in 2016 for 45 million euros.

Last season Xhaka played 45 competitive games in which he scored one goal and two assists.
