Maria KeaneThe English record champions Manchester United reached deep into their pockets for the French world champion Raphael Varane (28).
The central defender is moving from Real Madrid to Old Trafford for up to 50 million euros and is the second giant transfer after Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho (85 million euros) this season.
The 79-time international, who has won 19 titles in his career, will receive a contract until June 30, 2025. “Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world. The chance to move to Manchester and play in the Premier League was given I don’t turn it down, “emphasized Varane.
He’s still keen to celebrate some big career wins, said the Frenchman, “and there are a lot of great players in this team who are just as determined as I am to win games and trophies.” Varane’s contract in Madrid ran until 2022.
