Manchester United - Rio Ferdinand attacks critic of Cristiano Ronaldo: "Blasphemy!"

United legend Rio Ferdinand has sharply rejected the recent criticism of Cristiano Ronaldo. The allegations against the United star bordered on “blasphemy,” said the former central defender.

“When I hear people talking about Ronaldo being the reason United are not more successful, then that’s blasphemy,” Ferdinand raged on his YouTube channel Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.

“Listen, I see way too much stuff like that. Don’t talk like that! Please, it’s a shame,” Ferdinand continued. It is “an absolute disrespect.”

“To think that because he isn’t pushing enough defensively or because he doesn’t run as much as other players … That’s why he’s not here,” said the former United star. “Sometimes you have to use the players as their strengths allow.”

Ferdinand: “United’s problems are of a different nature”

“Look at Lukaku, Lewandowski, Benzema. They are some of the best goal scorers of this generation. Do you say about them that they don’t work hard enough?” Asked Ferdinand. “Nobody questions their work. The same must apply to Ronaldo! United’s problems are of a different nature.”

With 17 points from 10 games, Manchester are only fifth in the current table, especially after the Red Devils’ 5-0 debacle against Liverpool, not a few demanded the dismissal of coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. At the weekend, however, the Red Devils beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0. Ronaldo came up with a goal and an assist.

The Portuguese scored four times in seven league games this season and prepared another goal. In the Champions League he scored three goals in three games.
