Maria KeaneArsenal FC are about to sign Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid. The Gunners have made good progress in negotiations with Los Blancos, according to information from SPOX and Goal, so they are optimistic that a deal will work out this week.
Arsenal would like to have Odegaard in the top game against Chelsea next weekend. To do this, the Norwegian would have to be registered with the league by Friday noon.
Odegaard spent the second half of last season on loan from Arsenal and impressed with his performances. Therefore, the Gunners are ready to hand over around 35 million euros for the midfielder, who is not the first choice in the Spanish capital even after the return of coach Carlo Ancelotti. At the weekend he was not in the squad in the 4-1 win at Alaves.
Real had brought Ödegaard in 2016 as a 16-year-old from Norway. Loans to Heerenveen, Vitesse Arnheim and Real Sociedad followed before going to Arsenal in London. There he is now supposed to sign a five-year contract.
