“Nobody has to call me in 2024”

According to his own statement, Jürgen Klopp will not be available as a possible national coach even after the home European championship in 2024. “If it ends for me in Liverpool in 2024, then there will be a year’s vacation first,” said the team manager of Liverpool FC Picture TV: “Hansi Flick’s contract would have to run until 2025 in order for it to be an option for me at all. Nobody has to call me in 2024.”

Flick’s contract with the German Football Association (DFB) is dated until 2024. Klopp was also traded as a candidate for the successor to Joachim Löw, but the 54-year-old waved it off early due to his current contract with the Reds.

The former Dortmund and Mainz trainer left it open whether Klopp might stay at Anfield Road longer. “There’s no point in saying something because it’s still so long gone,” he said. “How should I know what’s in three years? Most of them don’t even know where they are in two or three weeks.”
