Ralf Rangnick takes over Manchester United

Ralf Rangnick is the new Manchester United team manager for good. The 63-year-old receives a contract with the traditional club around superstar Cristiano Ronaldo as interim coach until the end of the season, as the Red Devils announced on Monday.

After this season, Rangnick will work as a consultant for ManUnited for two years.

After Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool FC) and Thomas Tuchel (Chelsea FC), Rangnick is the third German team manager in the Premier League. It is unclear whether Rangnick will be sitting on the United bench in the home game against Arsenal on Thursday, as he does not yet have a valid work visa.

“I’m looking forward to joining Manchester United and focusing on making this a successful season for the club,” said Rangnick, who succeeds the sacked team manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Manchester are currently eighth in the table.

Most recently, Rangnick was the sporting director of the Russian champions Lokomotiv Moscow. The Muscovites agreed with ManUnited on an early release for the experienced football teacher.

Because of Rangnick: will Pogba stay?

The future collaboration with Rangnick could also have consequences for the United squad. Paul Pogba, whose contract expires next summer, is said to continue to see United as an option because of Rangnick, among other things.

The Athletic According to him, it is “very unlikely” that Pogba will sign a new contract with another club before next summer. Accordingly, he had found out about Rangnick and was looking forward to working with him.
