Rangnick successor at Manchester United? Cristiano Ronaldo raves about Diego Simeone

Cristiano Ronaldo raved about Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone. His club Manchester United is looking for a successor to interim coach Ralf Rangnick, who is scheduled to act as an advisor to the English record champions after the end of the season.

“He’s got a lot of courage. I like people like that,” said Ronaldo in an upcoming Amazon documentary about the Argentine, whom he knows from his time at Real Madrid. Ronaldo and Simeone were linked by a rivalry at the time. With the royal team, the Portuguese prevented the Rojiblancos coach from winning the Champions League title twice.

However, it is highly unlikely that Simeone will leave his club for England. The 51-year-old has been with the Madrilenians for ten years and still has a contract until 2024.

According to reports, the Red Devils already have another preferred candidate for the post of Rangnick’s successor: Mauricio Pochettino. The talks with the PSG coach should, however, falter because he demands too much power in transfers and player contracts. Alternative Erik ten Hag from Ajax Amsterdam should hesitate. According to information from Sports picture therefore Rangnick could probably stay in office beyond the end of the season.
