Maria KeaneDuring a test match between Leicester City and Villarreal CF, Foxes player Wesley Fofana was seriously injured. Villarreal player Fer Nino had hugged Fofana rudely – a foul of revenge?
Fofana was carried away on a stretcher with a suspected broken leg after Nino grabbed him with a tackle.
Some observers suspect that it could be a foul of revenge, since Nino was hit shortly before by the French defender on the Achilles tendon.
After the foul, physios and paramedics rushed to the front, after a lengthy treatment Fofana was transported to the King Power Stadium to the applause of over 17,000 fans. Leicester won the game 3-2 in the end.
The 20-year-old made his Premier League debut last season with 38 appearances in all competitions and became one of the key players on Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
The Foxes, who won the FA Cup last season, will play in the Community Shield against Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday before starting the league at home against the Wolves on August 14.
