Spectators in Anfield with a touching gesture for Cristiano Ronaldo after his son's death

The spectators at Anfield sent a gesture of condolence to United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo during Tuesday night’s Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester United.

The Portuguese announced the death of his newborn son on Monday.

The whole stadium applauded in the 7th minute based on the shirt number of the five-time world footballer and then sang the famous song “You’ll never walk alone” to express condolences to Ronaldo. The 37-year-old was not in the United squad due to the bereavement.

As revealed by Manchester, the gesture was the brainchild of Liverpool fans. Both teams wore black ribbons on the pitch.

Ronaldo in grief: “The greatest pain a parent can feel”

“It’s the greatest pain a parent can feel,” Ronaldo wrote on Monday. “We are devastated and ask for privacy at this difficult time. You are our angel baby boy! We will always love you!”

Ronaldo’s partner Georgina Rodriguez was pregnant with twins. “Only the birth of our daughter gives us the strength to live with hope and happiness in this moment,” Ronaldo said.
