Maria KeaneStriker Tammy Abraham from Champions League winners Chelsea has moved to AS Roma for a transfer fee of 40 million euros. As the Italians announced on Tuesday, the 23-year-old Englishman signed a five-year contract until 2026. Abraham was reacting to Chelsea’s commitment from Romelu Lukaku, who had recently come from Inter Milan to team manager Thomas Tuchel’s team for around 115 million euros.
“You can sense when a club really wants you and Rome immediately expressed their interest,” said Abraham, who first laced his boots with the Blues at the age of seven.
According to matching media reports, Chelsea should have a buyback option of 80 million euros from 2023.
National player Timo Werner, who played against Crystal Palace (3-0) in the Premier League season opener, will fight for a place in the starting line-up with star striker Lukaku in the future.
