Forgot letter! E-mail frenzy about Kostic Lazio boss: "That's history now"

Huge fuss about the failed move of the Serbian national player Filip Kostic (28) from Eintracht Frankfurt to Lazio Rome: According to a report from Italy, the Hessians are said to have deliberately prevented the transfer.

According to the Italian transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio, four days before the transfer deadline, the Bundesliga club deliberately gave the Romans an incorrect email address to which the official offer should be sent.

The Hessians are said to have assured the player that Lazio had not made an offer for Kostic.

Upon request from SPOX and Goal, however, the SGE vehemently contradicted this representation on Wednesday. Lazio was not given a wrong email address.

The Romans would have forgotten the letter “K” when sending the mail and later also stated in writing that they had problems with sending the offer for Kostic.

SPOX and Goal also asked Lazios sports director Igli Tare (48). He reacted in frustration: “I don’t want to say anything about that. It doesn’t make sense to talk about it anymore. We would have gladly signed Filip Kostic. But that’s history now. We wish the player and Eintracht Frankfurt all the best.”

Eintracht wants to tick the story: “Good boy”

Will the Romans dare to make another attempt at Kostic in winter? “I don’t think so,” said Tare, referring to the signing of Hellas Verona’s attacking player Mattia Zaccagni (26) on Deadline Day: “We are very happy with this transfer.”

For Kostic, who is contractually bound to the SGE until 2023, things will now continue as normal in Frankfurt. Last week, the long-time top performer skipped training to force his move to Rome.

After the broken deal with Lazio, the sports management team around Markus Krösche emphasized what a “good boy” and “important player” the former professional of Hamburger SV and VfB Stuttgart was.

And Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner also made it clear: “I got to know Filip Kostic as an impeccable player and person. We will work through the events in line with our common goals and then tick them off.”
