BVB, News: Brandt and Meunier were not yet vaccinated

There is currently a corona alarm at Borussia Dortmund, Thomas Meunier and Julian Brandt were infected with the virus in their private areas in the days off after the training camp.

As the press office of the city of Dortmund announced – although without naming their names – the people who tested positive were not vaccinated. Both players now have to go into a 14-day quarantine, which, according to the health department, cannot be shortened by prior “free testing”.

The entire team does not have to go into quarantine, as only one person was classified as a close contact between the two players. According to the health department, this person is “fully vaccinated, as are almost all the players and the team’s supervisors and coaches. Most of them already have full protection, for some people the interval between the second vaccination is too short or the vaccination is still pending”.

BVB therefore trained in camera and according to information from picture contactless. This Thursday, the team will be subjected to another series of PCR tests. Once the results are in, the situation may need to be reassessed.

BVB, News: Michael Zorc on the current situation

The preparation for the cup game on Saturday against SV Wehen Wiesbaden is therefore vehemently disrupted at BVB. In addition, there are many injury concerns, Dortmund has to play the first competitive game of the season with a rump squad.

“The coach is not to be envied at the moment,” says sports director Michael Zorc in the kicker on the current situation with the cup winners.

Nevertheless, he is convinced of the approach of the new coach Marco Rose: “But Marco Rose does it very well and always sees the positive. We have to make the best of the situation and successfully solve our task in the cup.”

BVB, News: Sebastian Kehl praises Felix Passlack

One of the beneficiaries of the personnel shortage, especially in the defense area, is Felix Passlack. He will appear as a right-back in the cup.

A chance that Passlack has earned, according to BVB licensed game manager Sebastian Kehl. “He did a very good preparation,” said Kehl to the Ruhr news.

Passlack came back to Dortmund from a loan from the Netherlands last season, was surprisingly allowed to stay with the club and received the salary in the form of a contract extension.

BVB, News: Progress at Emre Can and Raphael Guerreiro

Not only Mats Hummels (patellar tendon), but also the two European Championship participants Emre Can and Raphael Guerreiro brought injuries from their vacation to Dortmund. Both of them will most likely not be able to play in the cup.

Due to muscular problems, both could only train individually. As the Ruhr news write, Can and Guerreiro are said to have stood on the lawn again on Wednesday and completed an individual unit parallel to team training.

However, the training deficit is still too great; neither of them have participated in team training for over four weeks.
