Managing director Fernando Carro extends contract and demands more money from foreign marketing

Maria KeaneThe contract of managing director Fernando Carro from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen has been extended by the shareholders’ committee until 2024. The 57-year-old announced this at the employee season opening. The Spaniard has been managing director of the works club since 2018.
In addition, Carro would like future league boss Donata Hopfen to grow TV funds. “My clear expectation of the new DFL management is that the international TV revenues of the Bundesliga will increase significantly,” Carro told Sport Bild: “The value of the Bundesliga is far above what is currently being achieved, regardless of Corona -Effects.”
At the German Football League (DFL), Hopfen will take over the chairmanship of the management team from Christian Seifert and also the position of spokeswoman for the DFL Presidium from January 1st. Hopfen is currently working as a managing director and partner at a renowned management consultancy.
