Cristiano Ronaldo no longer CR7 at Manchester United? Whirl around jersey number after change

Cristiano Ronaldo’s time as CR7 could be drawing to a close on his return to Manchester United. Because his trademark, wearing the number seven on his back, is currently forbidden by the Premier League regulations.

With the Red Devils, Edinson Cavani wears the number seven on his back, in other words: Ronaldo’s number has already been taken and that shouldn’t change.

Rule M4 and M5 of the Premier League state that a player should keep the number assigned to him throughout the season. The shirt number may only be reassigned if a player has left the club. If these rules are violated, the club faces penalties. It is possible, however, that United could ask for special permission.

Cavani still has a contract with United until 2022, an early departure of the Uruguayan was not an issue recently. Regarding his shirt number seven, he was already not very willing to talk to Jadon Sancho. Sancho, who moved from BVB to the Red Devils in the summer, is now wearing the 25 because the checksum is seven.

If the “matador” stays tough with Ronaldo and the Premier League does not allow itself to be softened with regard to its regulations, the 36-year-old could come up with the 28th. He wore this number in his first year as a professional at Sporting Lisbon.

Then Ronaldo had worn the number seven since joining Manchester United in 2003, with the exception of one season at Real Madrid. In the 2009/10 season, she still wore club legend Raul, who only moved to Schalke 04 a year later. In his first year for Real, Ronaldo started with the nine.
